When Spring Begins but Your Heart Still Feels Heavy

As March arrives, the world slowly begins to wake up again.
The air softens. The light lingers a little longer in the evening. Tiny flowers begin to push their way through the soil after a long winter.
For many people, spring feels like a fresh start.
But if you are grieving someone you love, this season can feel very different.
While the world seems to be moving forward, your heart may still feel tender… quiet… or heavy. And that’s okay.
Grief does not follow the calendar.
It doesn’t suddenly lift just because the seasons change. Love is not seasonal, and neither is the ache of missing someone who mattered deeply to you.
Yet something beautiful often happens during this time of year.
As the world grows quieter and softer, many people begin to notice subtle moments of connection with their loved ones in Spirit.
Not always in dramatic ways.
Often, it’s through the smallest, gentlest experiences.

The Quiet Ways Spirit Often Reaches Us
When someone we love passes, the relationship does not end. It simply changes form.
Many people expect a “big sign,” but Spirit often communicates through moments that feel simple and natural.
You might notice:
A song playing at the exact moment you were thinking of them
A vivid dream where they feel incredibly real
A sudden memory that fills your heart with warmth
Repeating numbers or meaningful coincidences
Birds, butterflies, or symbols that remind you strongly of them
These moments often happen when we are relaxed or quiet—during a walk, while sitting with a cup of tea, or when our thoughts drift gently toward the person we miss.
Spring tends to invite those quiet moments.
And in those moments, connection can become easier to feel.
When Grief Opens the Door to Deeper Awareness
Something I have witnessed again and again in my work as a medium is that grief often awakens a deeper sensitivity within us.
People who once felt unsure about intuition suddenly begin to notice things they never noticed before.
They feel nudges.
They sense presence.
They recognize patterns and signs that once would have gone unnoticed.
This isn’t because something new has appeared.
It’s often because love has softened the heart enough to recognize what has always been there.
Our connection with those we love continues. It may no longer be physical, but it is still very real.
You Are Not Imagining Your Connection
One of the most common things people say to me is:
“I think I received a sign… but I’m not sure.”
The truth is, most genuine signs feel very natural. They don’t arrive with fireworks or dramatic announcements.
They arrive with a quiet knowing.
A sense of peace.
A feeling that, for just a moment, the distance between worlds doesn’t feel quite so large.
If you have experienced something like this, trust that your heart recognized it for a reason.
Love has a remarkable way of continuing to reach us.
Let This Season Be Gentle
If this season feels hopeful, allow yourself to receive that.
If it still feels heavy, allow that too.
There is no right timeline for grief.
But sometimes, in the quiet unfolding of a new season, we begin to notice that love never truly left us.
It simply learned new ways to be present.
And often, the signs we are looking for are already finding their way to us.
